Ongoing collaborations and participation at landmark Life Science events with the GDA in Sweden and UAE in 2018.
At Global Pharma Consulting, a key focus area has always been development of multi-territory Life Science networks, particularly when it comes to Swedish / MENA co-operations. In recent years we’ve been privileged to work with the UAE Genetic Diseases Association and its founder and Chairperson, HE Dr Maryam Matar, who has been instrumental in creating a platform from which Swedish and MENA genetic diseases experts can engage in new dialogue, share resources and advance the overall research and management of such diseases. Global Pharma Consulting has recently been awarded Knowledge Partner status by the GDA, recognising the importance of our relationship and the long-term value we can contribute as a Swedish Life Science partner.
Dr Matar was a guest of honour at the inauguration of The Innovation Pavilion by Sweden at Arab Health 2018 and now, in September 2018, she is visiting us in Sweden to participate in ICORD (the International Conference on Rare Diseases & Orphan Drugs) at Karolinska University Hospital Solna / Karolinska Institutet. ICORD is an international society for individuals active in rare diseases and/or orphan drugs. While awareness of Rare Diseases has increased and international collaboration has improved, there are still many unmet needs for patients. The conference aims to highlight the successes and address the gaps from a global perspective.
As part of her Swedish visit and to create further exposure for the GDA as well as this field, Global Pharma Consulting is co-ordinating individual meetings for Dr Matar with the Ministry of Health, Swecare, other local health authorities and private sector stakeholders, for her to get a well-rounded view of how Sweden approaches genetic and rare diseases and to identify other potential collaborations between the two countries.
Then, in November 2018, Sweden will be a partner country at the annual Genetic Disorders Conference and UAE International Genetic Disorders Prevention Award 2018 in Dubai. This is always a high profile health sector event with speakers, attendance and support from the world’s most respected leaders in genetics. Global Pharma Consulting will be taking a delegation of genetic diseases experts, researchers and thought leaders from Swedish authorities and institutes to participate and, once again, share resources at this important gathering.
We are so pleased to continue working with Dr Matar and the GDA in this critical field. Both the UAE and Sweden have advanced healthcare frameworks and, by bringing the two countries and their expertise and innovations together, these collaborations really do have the potential to reduce the prevalence of genetic diseases and improve quality of life for such patients.
Watch out for more news on this in September!
