Global Pharma Consulting joins delegation to Syria for Damascus International Fair
In late August 2017, Global Pharma Consulting was invited by the Damascus Chamber of Commerce to join a business delegation to Syria to attend the 59th Damascus International Fair. Due to the local situation, this event has not been held for several years so it was fantastic to see it resume in 2017 as it plays an important role in the growth and future of the Syrian business and economy. We were honoured to be part of the Swedish delegation which included about 25 people from different business sectors such as food, agriculture, construction, marketing, tourism and security. Global Pharma Consulting was the only company representing the Life Science and healthcare sector and we were proud to represent and introduce some of Sweden’s innovations in this field to the Syrian market.
In addition to visiting the fair which in itself was vast and encompassed numerous sections such as food, construction, chemical products, handcrafts and arts, we also attended a number of high level meetings, including a meeting with Prime Minister Mr Imad Khamis where we discussed how best to introduce Sweden’s innovative, high quality Life Science products to the Syrian market. In a meeting with a representative from the Syrian Ministry of Health, we discussed in detail the healthcare needs and challenges in Syria and how Swedish products and services could help overcome some of these obstacles. Other meetings were held with key representatives from Syria’s own Life Science sector and we rounded off the trip with several live debates and TV/radio interviews.
It was a fascinating and exhilarating week and we are extremely excited about our new networks that are opening up in Syria. If you would like to learn more about the new business opportunities for Swedish Life Science companies in Syria, drop us a line on firstname.lastname@example.org.
